The modern city thrives on tourism, especially around its historical past. Home to the self-proclaimed 'World's Oldest Rodeo,' which has been held continuously since 1888. The towns of Prescott Valley, 7 miles east; Chino Valley, 16 miles (26 km) north; Dewey-Humboldt, 13 miles to the east, and Prescott make up the area called 'Quad City'. It also sometimes refers to central Yavapai County generally, which includes the cities of Meyer, Paulden, Wilhoit, and Williamson Valley. Together with these smaller communities, the area had a population of 103,260 in 2007. Prescott is the center of the Prescott metropolitan area, which is served by the US Census Bureau like all of Yavapai County.
