Wadena is a city in Fayette County, Iowa, United States. The population was 209 at the time of the 2020 census. Alliant Energy supplies electricity to Wadena. Students in grades 9-12 are housed in West Union at North Fayette Valley High School. Grades 7-8 students attend North Fayette Valley Middle School between Elgin and Clermont. Unless enrollment is available, all Wadena Elementary School students attend Valley Elementary School, which is located in the same building as NFV High School.
