Arroll is an unincorporated community in Southeast Texas County, Missouri, United States. The community is located on Missouri Route W, two miles north of the Jacks Fork River. Access to the river is actually by driving south on the road from Jacks Fork to 'Quavers' where the north and south forks meet at Circle Bridge. Standing on the bridge facing the pigs, the north branch is on the right and the south branch is on the left. This is generally considered to be the last floating put-in at Jacks Fork. The north and south gates above this point are only navigable during the rainy season and the land along the banks is privately owned, so expect several 'lock gate' type fencing. The only concrete dam in Jacks Fork is 3-4 miles west of Arroll on Arroll Road. Years ago it was used to generate electricity for the Gist/Kinard Ranch. The dam and concrete foundation for the generator house still exist, but the house itself was swept away in a flood in the early 80's. Just below the bridge is a popular swimming spot called 'The Rock'. Arroll currently has a non-denominational church and public cemetery with a community center built on the church grounds. The cemetery is the final resting place of many of the founding families who settled in the area. Arroll had two businesses at once. The old store south of the church was last operated by the Ralph Bashor family and closed in late 1960. The other store was west across the W Freeway from the church. It was last operated by the Brooks family in the 1990s and burned down shortly after it closed. Arroll had a K-8 elementary school until it was incorporated into the Summersville School District in late 1960. Rural Houston and Wafford were other small one-room schools in the area. Wafford School has been missing for years, although the concrete foundations are still in place. It was located about two miles west of Arroll, southeast of the intersection of Arroll Road and Woolsey Drive. The Houston Rural School and Cemetery is located approximately five miles west of Arroll on the north side of Arroll Road. It is clearly visible from the road, although a member of the Curnutt family turned it into a house in the 1990s. It received a makeover in 2017 after another local family (Woolsey) bought the surrounding land.
