Finley is an unincorporated community in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma, 10 miles northeast of Antlers. On April 30, 1903, a United States Post Office was incorporated in Finley, Indian Territory and named for Sidney W. Finley (1869-1914), a local merchant and early postmaster. Finley's original name was Cedar Church, later Old Cedar Church, the name of an ancient Choctaw Indian Methodist church established there during the Indian Territory period. The community is named after Big Cedar Creek, then known as Cedar Creek. The church appears to have fallen into disrepair in the waning days of the Choctaw nation, which may have provided an opportunity to rename the settlement after its first postmaster. At the time of its creation, Finley was located in Jack's Fork County, part of the Pushmataha District of the Choctaw Nation. Finley successfully maintains its gated community status long after missing school. In his community center he organizes cemetery cleaning days and community meals. There is also a post office and shop.
