Dingmans Ferry is an unincorporated community in Delaware Township, Pike County, Pennsylvania, United States. In 2014 it had 7,477 inhabitants. It was originally on the Delaware River in what is now part of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. When the Corps of Engineers acquired the land for the establishment of the Tocks Island Dam project as a significant domain in the mid-20th century, it moved the community further up the hill. Local objections to the dam and land acquisition of their own free will or by a major domain had delayed the project for years, but preparations were finally completed when it became known that the proposed dam site was on the verge of failure. When the dam project was abandoned, the National Park Service took over management of the property for the Public Use Corps. The land acquired by the Corps became a Delaware National Recreation Area. Nearby attractions include Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls and Deer Leap Falls in Childs Recreation Area, as well as Silverthread Falls and Dingmans Falls, all on Dingmans Creek. Dingmans Ferry is located at 4113' North, 7452' West. Dingmans Ferry is now the name of the post office (ZIP Code 18328) serving Delaware and Porter Townships. The post office is located within the Delaware city limits. The Delaware community is governed by a board of directors; There is no mayor of Dingmans Ferry. The community has area codes 570 and 272. Dingmans Ferry Bridge is the last privately owned toll bridge to cross the Delaware River and one of the few remaining in the country. The Dutch Reformed Church at Dingman's Ferry was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. It was converted into a house in 1957, but its exterior was not altered as it had wooden pillars modeled after Roman marble. The area is home to Dingman-Delaware elementary, elementary, and high schools.
