Quicktown, Pennsylvania is a quaint rural community in northeastern Pennsylvania, approximately 17 miles east of Scranton, more specifically in eastern Madison Township. (known to locals as Madisonville). Madison Twp (Madisonville) was incorporated on August 7, 1849 from parts of Covington and Jefferson Townships and is named for President James Madison. Quicktown is located approximately 1.2 miles (1.9 km) northeast of Madisonville Corners on most printed maps and is centered on Quicktown Corners, at the intersection of Quicktown Road and Rt. 690 in Madison Township. This intersection was formerly known as Carey's Corners, after the Carey family who lived near the intersection. The Carey family no longer resides in the area, but were there until at least the 1930s according to this census. Quicktown was named after the Quick family who lived in the area, but there are no records in the census records that Quicks actually lived in Madison Township, except for Matilda Quick, a boarding school teacher with George Weldy in 1880. Records show instead The family and descendants of Daniel Thomas Quick (1824-1911) and Almira J Pedrick Quick live in Hollisterville County, part of Salem Township, Wayne County. Daniel was from Pike County near Milford and first appeared in Salem on the 1860 census. Daniel's son used the Hollisterville address in his World War I service record.
