Mannboro is a rural unincorporated community in eastern Amelia County, Virginia, United States. It is located on SR 612 (Richmond Road) at its divided and curved intersections with (Namozine Road). Early spellings of the name included 'Mannborough' and 'Mannsborough'; In 1829, a post office called Mannsboro was established, one of the first in Amelia County. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant on April 9 at Appomattox. , 1865. Mannboro School, built about 1925 or 1926, was one of several Rosenwald schools in Amelia County. Mannboro's particular project included a 5-acre site with a two-teacher school. In the early 20th century, the Rosenwald School Project was a community initiative that established thousands of institutions throughout the South, primarily to educate African-American children. As late as 1967, after desegregation, a campus called Mannboro School, alternatively called Amelia Academy, continued on Route 612.
